Pets are our seat belts on the emotional roller coaster of life—they can be trusted, they keep us safe, and they sure do smooth out the ride.”

Our privately funded Healthy Pets for All program allows us to take veterinary care on the road with our mobile van. Last week we delivered free services in Watsonville where volunteer veterinarians and vet assistants provided exams and vaccines to 50 local animals. Flea/tick medication, pet food, leashes, collars, harnesses and other pet supplies were all delivered at no charge! Thirty of the pets attending were signed up for free spay/neuter services by their guardians and will be transported to our clinic for surgery.
We have also been providing basic animal care within homeless encampments, delivering pet food, building a relationship so that they know they can trust the Shelter personnel. These visits allow us to vaccinate their animals and sign them up for free spay/neuter appointments.
Volunteers in the Spotlight!
Our amazing volunteers are inspiring ALL the time, but we particularly love the timing of this feature article in the April issue of Beach Neighbors Spotlight. Nancie and Brian are very familiar faces around the Shelter, but you may not know how they found each other, why they started volunteering at the Shelter, and what they do on those rare days that they’re NOT visiting the dogs at SCCAS.
