Saluting our Placement Partners
Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is the largest and most comprehensive animal services entity in the county, taking in over 5000 strays, surrenders and rescues per year.
We are committed to finding a home for every adoptable animal that comes to us. It puts a heavy demand on our resources, but thanks to the many animal care advocates who serve as “placement partners,” our work is made easier and more effective. Because each one offers a unique focus, our placement partners can provide outreach to a wide range of constituencies. Some specialize in a particular breed. Others help us place unusual pets like pigs, goats, reptiles, and birds.
Last year, we transferred over a thousand pets into the care of thirty-eight different placement partners. We are very grateful to each of these organizations, and for the cooperative spirit that permeates our county and our neighboring communities.
